What we store

Usage events. We record anonymous events so we can tell which parts of the site work: a page being viewed, the filament or printer finder being opened and completed with the options chosen, searches, filter changes, searches or finder choices that returned nothing, products shown and clicked, and clicks out to a retailer. Each event stores the page, the market, the department (filament or printers), the product involved where relevant, and a timestamp.

Technical request data. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes the request information needed to serve and protect a website, including IP address, browser user agent and country. We do not store your IP address in our own database. To count unique visitors for a day we use a one-way hash of the IP address, the date and a secret, which cannot be reversed and cannot follow anyone from one day to the next.

What we do not store. No names, email addresses, payment details, advertising identifiers or cross-site profiles. We have no way to identify you.

Cookies and local storage

  • market: records which market's prices you are reading (currently the United States), so the site shows the right currency and retailer. Expires after one year.
  • A comparison list kept in your browser's local storage, once the compare feature is available. It never leaves your device.
  • Administrative session cookies, set only after a password login on internal pages. These are never set for ordinary visitors.

There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If advertising is added in future, this page will be updated before it goes live and consent will be requested where the law requires it.

Legal basis

Under the GDPR, our legal basis for the anonymous usage statistics is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): knowing which pages and tools work is necessary to run the site, and the data is anonymous and minimal. The market cookie is strictly necessary to show the prices you asked for.

Who else processes data

  • Cloudflare, Inc. hosts and serves this site and stores its database. Request data is processed in Cloudflare's global network.
  • Amazon. When you click a retailer link you leave this site, and Amazon's privacy policy applies to everything that happens next, including the associate tag in the link that tells Amazon the visit came from us. We never receive your order details, only aggregate commission reports.

We do not sell or share personal data, and we hold none to sell.

Retention

Usage events are kept for 24 months and then deleted. The market cookie expires after one year, or when you clear your browser storage.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Residents of US states with privacy laws, such as California, have similar rights to know, delete and opt out of sale or sharing; we do not sell or share personal information. In practice we hold nothing that identifies you, so an access request will usually be answered with confirmation that we have nothing linked to you. To exercise any right, email Info@blackcedarmedia.com.

Children

This site is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
