PLA Filament Under $15 Per kg
Last reviewed
PLA under $15 per kg means the listing price divided by its total net filament weight comes to less than $15, whatever the box costs. Multipacks, large spools, refills and cardboard spools are the listings most likely to clear that line.
Right now the lowest verified price per kg on this list is $8.18/kg, for JAYO PLA in Black.

Why the line is $15 per kg, not $15 per box
A $15 box limit would mostly catch the wrong things. It would let in 250g minis that cost far more per kilogram than a normal roll, and it would shut out a five-roll pack that is excellent value but costs more than $15 in total. Measuring per kilogram fixes both problems.
So the grid on this page shows any non-sample PLA listing whose price per kg is under $15. pla.deals works that figure out by dividing the Amazon offer price by the combined net filament weight of every spool in the listing. Each card shows the time its price was verified; anything not reconfirmed within 24 hours switches to "Check price at Amazon" and leaves the grid until it is checked again.
That also means the page changes shape through the week. A listing that sits at $15.20 per kg one day can slip under the line after a price change and appear here, then disappear again when the offer ends.
The kinds of listings that tend to clear $15 per kg
A single 1kg roll on a plastic reel has to be priced below $15 on its own to qualify. The listings that clear the line more easily usually get there through one of four routes.
Multipacks. Boxes of two, four, six or ten rolls spread the packaging and shipping cost across more filament. They are also where you are most likely to get a color mix you did not choose, so check whether the pack is one color or assorted. The multipack page lists them by pack.
Larger spools. Several brands sell the same PLA on bigger reels. Polymaker lists 1kg, 3kg and 5kg net weights for PolyLite PLA (opens in a new tab), and eSUN does the same for its PLA+ (opens in a new tab). A big spool can bring the per kg number down, but it needs a holder that can carry it. See bulk PLA for the large-format options.
Refills. Spool-free coils skip the cost of a reel. You need a reusable hub that matches the coil before the first refill is any use.
Cardboard spools. Paper-board reels replace plastic flanges and appear on value lines such as ELEGOO's PLA (opens in a new tab). Whether that is a bargain or a headache depends on your hardware, which is the second check below.
Three checks before you buy filament this cheap
A low per kg number is worth nothing if the spool jams, will not fit, or arrives damp. Spend a minute on these before you check out.
1. A diameter tolerance the brand actually states. Filament that wanders in thickness causes under- and over-extrusion. The fix is not to trust the Amazon bullet points but to find the figure on the brand's own page. GEEETECH lists ±0.02mm for its PLA (opens in a new tab), Sovol lists ±0.03mm for its PLA (opens in a new tab), and IIID MAX lists ±0.03mm for its Classic PLA+ (opens in a new tab). If you cannot find any stated tolerance, treat that as a reason to pay a little more elsewhere. While you are there, confirm the listing is 1.75mm: this grid filters on price, not diameter.
2. A spool your feeder accepts. This matters most for multi-color systems. Creality's CFS manual (opens in a new tab).pdf) lists spools of 197 to 202mm across and 42 to 68mm wide, up to 1kg, and accepts cardboard if it is not warped and the edges are treated. Anycubic's ACE 2 Pro page (opens in a new tab) gives 195 to 200mm flanges and 60 to 68mm widths, and asks users to avoid cardboard spools. Put those numbers next to the spool size a brand publishes: GEEETECH gives 197mm across and 59mm wide, which fits the CFS range on paper but falls 1mm short of the ACE 2 Pro width range. Any 3kg or 5kg spool is outside the 1kg CFS limit and belongs on an external holder.
3. Sealed, dry packaging. PLA takes on moisture from the air, and damp filament tends to string, pop and print with a rough surface. Look for a vacuum-sealed bag with a desiccant pack in the listing photos or description. Several brands mention drying in their own guidance, including Overture for its PLA+ (opens in a new tab) and Anycubic for PLA Basic (opens in a new tab). If you buy a multipack, open one roll at a time and keep the rest sealed.
Once the roll arrives, start at the middle of the brand's stated temperature range and adjust from there. The PLA print temperature guide covers how to dial it in.
When the grid is short
On some days only a handful of listings sit under $15 per kg, and on others none do. When that happens, two pages are more useful than waiting. The cheapest PLA ranking shows the lowest per kg options even when they sit just above the line. The best budget PLA page widens the net to spools with checked manufacturer specs, so you trade a little price for more certainty about what you are getting.
Frequently asked questions
Can a single 1kg spool be under $15 per kg?
Yes. A 1kg spool priced below $15 qualifies, since its price and its price per kg are the same number. Most listings on this page are packs or larger spools, though, because those spread costs over more filament.
Why is a $12 box not on this page?
If that box holds 500g, it works out to $24 per kg, well above the line. If it holds a 250g sample, it is excluded outright, since samples never appear here.
Is filament under $15 per kg worse than pricier PLA?
Not by definition. Price reflects pack size, spool type and seller as much as the material. Use the brand's stated tolerance and temperature range as your quality signals, not the price.
Will a cheap cardboard spool work in my multi-color unit?
It depends on the unit. Creality's CFS accepts flat cardboard spools with treated edges, while Anycubic asks ACE 2 Pro owners to avoid cardboard. Check your feeder's published spool limits before buying.
