Overture PLA Filament: PLA, PLA+ and Matte PLA Compared
Last reviewed
Overture rates its PLA, PLA+ and Matte PLA up to 300mm/s and publishes nozzle and bed ranges for all three, with PLA running 190 to 220°C and Matte PLA asking for a warmer 50 to 70°C bed. All three are compatible on manufacturer specs with the Bambu Lab A1, A1 mini, P1S and H2D and the Ender 3 V3 family, and need a 300mm/s speed cap on the Creality K1 series.
Right now 34 Overture PLA listings have an in-stock price verified in the last 24 hours.

The company behind Overture
Overture's site lists the business as Overture 3D Technologies LLC with an address in Houston, Texas, and carries a banner saying it is the only official Overture website. The store groups filament into regular PLA, aesthetic PLA and functional PLA, alongside PETG, TPU, ABS and ASA, nylon, polycarbonate and gradient colors, and sells bundles of 2, 4 and 10 spools. Support runs through a help center, an FAQ page and a printing wiki (opens in a new tab).
Overture's product pages are fairly complete by filament standards. Each of the three lines below has a spec table or data sheet with a nozzle range, a bed range and a speed figure, and two of the three state a numeric diameter tolerance.
Which Overture line fits which job
PLA is the default. Overture now sells it under a high speed title, so it is the line to choose for general printing on any modern machine, including fast CoreXY printers if you respect the 300mm/s rating.
PLA+ suits buyers who want Overture's modified formula and a slightly higher temperature ceiling. Overture recommends drying it before use, so it pairs well with a filament dryer if you live somewhere humid.
Matte PLA suits display parts, cosplay pieces and anything where a flat surface matters more than shine. It is the one Overture line that needs a hotter bed, which is worth knowing if your printer's bed is slow to heat.
PLA
Overture's PLA page (opens in a new tab) is now titled High Speed PLA. It lists 1.75mm filament at ±0.02mm, a 190 to 220°C nozzle range, a 25 to 60°C bed and speeds up to 300mm/s, on a 1kg spool. The linked data sheet recommends a far slower everyday speed than the headline, so treat 300mm/s as the formula's limit and start lower for detailed parts.
PLA+
For PLA+ (opens in a new tab), the figures here come from Overture's current data sheet: 1.75mm, a 190 to 230°C nozzle, a 25 to 60°C bed and printing speeds below 300mm/s, on a 1kg spool, with drying recommended before printing. The FAQ on the product page quotes narrower temperatures than the data sheet, so if the two disagree on your listing, start inside the narrower FAQ window. No numeric tolerance is stated for this line.

Matte PLA
Overture's Matte PLA page (opens in a new tab) and data sheet agree on 1.75mm at ±0.02mm, a 190 to 230°C nozzle, a 50 to 70°C bed and speeds up to 300mm/s, on a 1kg spool. The FAQ mentions added inorganic particles, which is how many matte formulas get their finish; Overture makes no abrasiveness statement.

Overture lines side by side
| Line | Nozzle | Bed | Speed | Tolerance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PLA | 190 to 220°C | 25 to 60°C | up to 300mm/s | ±0.02mm |
| PLA+ | 190 to 230°C | 25 to 60°C | below 300mm/s | not stated |
| Matte PLA | 190 to 230°C | 50 to 70°C | up to 300mm/s | ±0.02mm |
The speed rating is the same across the range, so moving between lines does not change how fast you can print. The differences sit at the edges of the temperature windows. PLA has the lowest nozzle ceiling at 220°C. Matte PLA has the highest bed floor at 50°C, double the 25°C that PLA and PLA+ allow. PLA+ is the only one with a drying recommendation and the only one without a stated tolerance.
If you buy Overture in bundles, compare the multi-spool listings on price per kg. pla.deals computes it as the offer price divided by total net filament across all spools in the listing, which is how our multipack page ranks 2, 4 and 10 spool packs against single spools.
Alternatives to Overture
- SUNLU also publishes full settings tables, with tiers up to 200 or 230mm/s on most lines and a 600mm/s high speed line.
- Polymaker has a matte line rated to the same 300mm/s, with a cooler 25 to 60°C bed.
- Hatchbox publishes far less, a single 180 to 220°C range for its PLA, but states that no heated bed is required.
Printer compatibility for Overture PLA
All three Overture lines come out compatible on manufacturer specs with the Bambu Lab A1, A1 mini, P1S and H2D and with the Creality Ender 3 V3, V3 KE and V3 SE. Each printer maker lists PLA, diameters match and Overture's nozzle range sits under every printer's limit. A1 owners can find more on our A1 PLA page.
On the Creality K1, K1 Max and K1C, the result is compatible with a condition: those printers are rated to 600mm/s, so cap your slicer profile at Overture's 300mm/s. Our K1 PLA page explains how to do that. The Bambu P1P and X1 Carbon remain not verified, because Bambu's pages we could reach do not confirm a full spec set for them. Overture does not state the spool material, so AMS owners should check the reel before loading.
Frequently asked questions
Is Overture PLA a high speed filament?
Overture now sells its standard PLA as High Speed PLA, rated up to 300mm/s. Its data sheet recommends a slower everyday speed, so 300mm/s is a ceiling.
What bed temperature does Overture Matte PLA need?
Overture lists 50 to 70°C for Matte PLA, warmer than the 25 to 60°C it gives for PLA and PLA+.
Should I dry Overture PLA+?
Overture's data sheet lists drying under its recommended printing conditions for PLA+.
Does Overture PLA work on a Creality K1?
Yes on manufacturer specs, with one condition: cap the speed at 300mm/s rather than the K1's 600mm/s.
