Best PLA for Creality K1, K1C and K1 Max

Quick recommendation

Pick a 1.75mm PLA whose maker publishes a nozzle temperature range and a maximum print speed, then let that speed figure set your slicer profile. The K1, K1C and K1 Max can all move at 600 mm/s, yet most PLA brands rate their filament well below that, which is why so many rows in the table below read "Compatible with conditions" instead of a plain "Compatible". A line built for fast printing, such as Creality Hyper PLA, rated to 600 mm/s at 190 to 230°C (opens in a new tab), can run at the printer's full pace. Ordinary PLA prints just as well for most parts once the profile is slowed to its rated speed.

If you own the CFS (Creality Filament System) for multicolor work, stick to 1kg reels inside its size window. K1-series specs that affect filament

Creality's own pages describe three closely related CoreXY machines with direct extruders and enclosures. Each takes 1.75mm filament, heats the nozzle to 300°C and the bed to 100°C, and lists 600 mm/s as its top speed (K1 support page (opens in a new tab), K1C support page (opens in a new tab), K1 Max product page (opens in a new tab)).

Two differences matter when you buy filament. The K1 Max's larger 300mm cube means one tall or wide part can use a big share of a 1kg spool, so check the slicer's filament estimate against what is left on the reel before starting a long job. The second is the original K1's nozzle: Creality's current support page lists hardened steel, but Creality's store comparison blogs describe the first K1 as having a copper alloy nozzle. If your K1 is an early unit, confirm which nozzle is fitted before running anything abrasive.

Choosing PLA for a 600 mm/s printer

Temperature is rarely the limit on these printers. Every PLA range in our research sits comfortably below 300°C, including high-speed lines that ask for more heat, such as Anycubic PLA High Speed at 190 to 260°C (opens in a new tab). The real choice is between filament designed to melt fast enough for high flow and filament that expects a calmer pace.

Published speed ratings vary widely, and they are worth reading before you buy:

• eSUN PLA+ (opens in a new tab) is rated below 350 mm/s.
• Overture PLA (opens in a new tab) lists up to 300 mm/s.
• Polymaker PolyLite PLA (opens in a new tab) rates it up to 200 mm/s.
• JAYO PLA (opens in a new tab) states up to 80 mm/s.
• ERYONE Silk PLA (opens in a new tab) tops out at 60 mm/s.

Finishes within one brand can differ too: ERYONE rates its standard PLA (opens in a new tab) to 100 mm/s but its silk to 60 mm/s, so a K1 profile tuned for one spool may be far too fast for the spool next to it. The enclosure helps with warping on large flat parts, but PLA softens at low temperatures. If long PLA jobs show drooping overhangs or a clicking extruder from heat creep, lifting the lid to vent warm air is a common fix. Feeding from the CFS

Creality lists the K1, K1C, K1 Max and K1 SE as compatible with the CFS-C, the K1-series version of its filament system (opens in a new tab). Its spec table accepts 1kg spools 197 to 202mm across and up to 68mm wide. That window has a lower edge as well as an upper one: a small 250g or 500g reel may fall below 197mm across, so measure it before loading.

Cardboard is allowed. Creality's CFS FAQ (opens in a new tab) says its paper spools are compatible, and the CFS user manual (opens in a new tab).pdf) warns only against cardboard reels with untreated edges or warped sides. Because of that, pla.deals adds no cardboard condition to K1-series rows. Spools of 2kg or more belong on an external holder, since the CFS-C is rated for 1kg.

One line in our data misses the window: ZIRO PLA PRO (opens in a new tab) comes on a plastic reel about 203mm across, 1mm over the limit, so its row tells you to use the external holder or respool it.

Compatibility warnings

Speed caps. A "Compatible with conditions" row usually means the filament maker states a maximum speed below 600 mm/s. The filament still suits the printer; the condition is that you set your slicer's print speed, or the filament's maximum volumetric speed, to the maker's figure instead of the printer's ceiling. Pushing past it tends to show up as weak layers, gaps in walls or a dull surface.

Abrasive and filled PLA. Carbon fiber, glass fiber, metal-filled and glow PLA wear soft nozzles. Since all three printers are listed with hardened steel nozzles, pla.deals does not mark filled PLA down on them. Bambu Lab PLA-CF still shows "Not verified" here, but only because Bambu's filament pages could not be read for its temperature and diameter data.

Spool size and weight. Anything wider than 68mm, outside 197 to 202mm across, or heavier than 1kg gets a condition pointing you to the external holder.

What the other states mean. "Compatible" means Creality lists PLA, both sides are 1.75mm, and the filament's published nozzle range fits under 300°C. "Not verified" means we lack one of those facts, not that the filament fails. "Not recommended" would only appear for a hard mismatch, and no PLA line has one on these printers.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my K1C prints look rough when I use the default fast profile?

The default profile assumes a filament that melts quickly enough for very high flow. If your spool is rated at 200 mm/s or less, the hotend cannot fully melt plastic at full speed, which leaves thin walls and a rough top. Lower the speed or volumetric flow to the maker's rating, and stay inside its stated temperature range.

The CFS will not load a spool that fits my old spool holder. What should I check?

Measure the reel's outside diameter and width against the 197 to 202mm diameter window and the 68mm width limit, then inspect cardboard edges for fraying or warping. A reel just outside the range can slip or bind on the CFS rollers even when the filament itself is fine.

Can I run carbon fiber PLA on my K1?

Creality's current support page lists a hardened steel nozzle and includes PLA-CF among supported materials. On an early K1, check the nozzle first, since older comparison material describes a copper alloy part.

A brand I have used for years shows Not verified. Should I avoid it?

No. That state means the maker's published specs did not give us a verified diameter or nozzle range, so pla.deals will not claim a match. Check the label's temperature range yourself; anything under 300°C will heat fine on these printers.
