Hatchbox PLA Filament: What the Spec Sheet Says and Omits
Last reviewed
Hatchbox lists its 1.75mm PLA with a 180 to 220°C print temperature, a ±0.03mm dimensional accuracy and a 1kg spool, and says no heated bed is required. It publishes no speed rating or bed range, so the PLA is compatible on manufacturer specs with most printers we track, but fast machines need a speed you choose yourself.
Right now 11 Hatchbox PLA listings have an in-stock price verified in the last 24 hours.

Hatchbox, from its own pages
Hatchbox describes its PLA as an engineered filament made from a blend of plant-based materials and polymers, notes that PLA is a common choice for displays and small household prints, and says printed parts come out with a glossy finish. Its store navigation lists PLA, ABS, TPU and PETG filament, resin, a section for USA-made products, volume discounts and a wholesale program, and its support area points to safety data sheets, downloads and a knowledge center.
Hatchbox's site refuses scripted requests, so the figures on this page come from a Hatchbox PLA product page (opens in a new tab) opened in a normal browser on the day our research was gathered. Reseller listings for Hatchbox quote conflicting temperatures, and we did not use them.
Who Hatchbox PLA suits
Hatchbox publishes a short spec list, so the line suits buyers who print at ordinary speeds and are happy to tune a profile themselves.
- Owners of bed slingers and older printers. The 180 to 220°C range starts at least 10°C below the other brands with brand pages here, and Hatchbox says a heated bed is not needed, which suits machines with weak or no bed heating.
- Buyers who want one plain, glossy PLA. There is a single standard line in our research, so there is little to compare inside the brand.
- Less suited to fast CoreXY printing. Hatchbox gives no speed rating, so on a K1 class printer you are setting the pace without guidance from the maker.
The Hatchbox store also shows matte and glow-in-the-dark PLA products, but we have no spec data for them, so they are not covered here.
PLA
Hatchbox's PLA page (opens in a new tab) states 1.75mm filament with a dimensional accuracy of ±0.03mm, a print temperature of 180 to 220°C and a 1kg spool. It lists less warping, no heated bed required, eco-friendly and odorless as features.
What it does not state is just as useful to know:
- No bed temperature range, only the note that heat is not required.
- No maximum print speed.
- No spool material or spool dimensions.
- No drying recommendation.
If your printer has a heated bed, a moderate PLA bed setting from your slicer's default profile is a sensible start; our PLA temperature guide explains how nozzle and bed settings interact.

Hatchbox PLA against other lines
With one documented line, the useful comparison is with other brands. Hatchbox's ±0.03mm accuracy matches eSUN's stated PLA+ tolerance and is a little looser than the ±0.02mm that Overture, SUNLU, ELEGOO and JAYO state. Its 220°C ceiling is lower than most PLA+ lines, which often run to 230°C or more. And it is sold here as a 1kg spool only, while several competitors offer 3kg or 5kg reels.
None of that makes it a weaker filament; it means you have fewer published numbers to plan around. In the live grid, look at price per kg rather than spool price: pla.deals divides each offer price by the total net filament in the listing, and a price drops to "Check price at Amazon" once it is more than 24 hours old.

Printer suitability for Hatchbox PLA
In our compatibility data, built only from manufacturer specs, Hatchbox PLA is compatible with the Bambu Lab A1, A1 mini, P1S and H2D, the Creality Ender 3 V3, V3 KE and V3 SE, and the Creality K1, K1 Max and K1C. Each printer maker lists PLA, the diameters match and Hatchbox's 180 to 220°C range sits inside every printer's nozzle limit.
Read the K1 result carefully. Other brands get a speed cap condition on the K1 series because they publish a maximum speed below the printer's 600mm/s. Hatchbox gets no cap only because it publishes no speed figure at all. That is an absence of data, not a high speed rating, so start a K1 profile at a conservative speed and raise it while watching for underextrusion. Our K1 PLA page covers that approach.
The Bambu P1P and X1 Carbon stay not verified, because the Bambu pages we could read do not confirm a full spec set for those printers. With no spool dimensions published, AMS owners should measure the reel. You can filter by printer in the filament finder.
Frequently asked questions
What temperature should I print Hatchbox PLA at?
Hatchbox lists 180 to 220°C. Start in the middle of that range and adjust in small steps.
Does Hatchbox PLA need a heated bed?
Hatchbox says no heated bed is required, though it does not publish a bed range for printers that have one.
How fast can Hatchbox PLA print?
Hatchbox does not publish a speed rating, so on fast printers pick a moderate speed and raise it gradually.
What diameter tolerance does Hatchbox state?
Its product page gives a dimensional accuracy of ±0.03mm on 1.75mm filament.
