Sovol 3D Printers and PLA
Last reviewed
Sovol's SV06 Ace is a 220mm i3-style bed-slinger with a camera and Wi-Fi, while the SV08 is a CoreXY printer with a 350mm bed and the higher listed speed of the two. Both reach 300°C and offer a hardened steel nozzle, so the decision is mostly about build size and how much room you have.
Right now 7 Sovol PLA listings have and 1 Sovol printer has an in-stock price verified in the last 24 hours.

Sovol in short
Sovol sells its printers, filament and spare parts from sovol3d.com, links an official wiki and a forum from its site, and publishes open source files on GitHub. We cover two Sovol printers: the SV06 Ace and the SV08. They have a lot in common on paper. Both list a 300°C nozzle, a 100°C bed, 1.75mm filament, automatic leveling, Wi-Fi, a camera and a hardened steel nozzle option. They differ in motion system, build size and listed speed, and neither lists a multi-material system.
Which Sovol fits your space and parts
Size is the honest dividing line. The SV06 Ace prints 220 x 220mm parts and moves its bed front to back, which needs clearance behind and in front of the printer. The SV08 prints parts up to 350mm across on a CoreXY frame.
- Desk-sized printer for PLA, PETG and TPU parts up to 220mm wide: SV06 Ace.
- Large single-piece prints such as helmets, enclosures or storage bins: SV08.
- ABS on a regular basis: either, with an enclosure. Sovol notes that ABS on the SV06 Ace is enclosure recommended and sells enclosures as add-ons for the SV08.
SV06 Ace
Sovol's SV06 Ace page (opens in a new tab) lists a 220 x 220 x 250mm build volume, a 300°C nozzle, a 100°C hot bed and 600mm/s maximum printing speed with 20,000mm/s² acceleration. It is an i3-style printer with a planetary dual-gear direct drive extruder, pressure-sensor auto leveling, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and a built-in camera. The stock nozzle is 0.4mm, and Sovol offers a hardened steel nozzle kit (opens in a new tab) for it. Listed materials are PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA.
SV08
The SV08 page (opens in a new tab) lists a 350 x 350 x 345mm build volume, a 300°C nozzle, a 100°C bed and 700mm/s maximum printing speed with 40,000mm/s² acceleration. It uses CoreXY kinematics with a dual-gear direct drive extruder, levels with both an inductive sensor and a pressure sensor, and has Ethernet, Wi-Fi and a camera. A 0.4mm hardened steel nozzle kit is offered, and the material list covers PLA, PETG, TPU, PETG-CF and ABS. The frame ships open, with enclosures sold separately.
SV06 Ace against SV08
| SV06 Ace | SV08 | |
|---|---|---|
| Motion | i3-style bed-slinger | CoreXY |
| Build volume | 220 x 220 x 250mm | 350 x 350 x 345mm |
| Listed max speed | 600mm/s | 700mm/s |
| Leveling | Pressure sensor | Inductive and pressure sensors |
| Network | Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi and Ethernet |
Temperatures, nozzle size, camera and the hardened nozzle option are the same on both. The SV08's bed area is roughly two and a half times the SV06 Ace's, and its listed acceleration is double.
Other brands to look at
- Creality: the Ender-3 V3 range competes with the SV06 Ace, and the K1 Max with the SV08 for large parts in an enclosed frame.
- Flashforge: smaller CoreXY printers, including the AD5X with a built-in color system.
- Anycubic: the Kobra 3 adds an optional four-spool feeder.
- QIDI: heated-chamber printers if engineering materials matter more than bed size.
PLA for Sovol printers
Sovol makes its own 1.75mm PLA, rated 200 to 240°C with a 50 to 60°C bed, a 0.03mm tolerance and a 300mm/s maximum (opens in a new tab), sold in 1kg spools. That temperature range sits under both printers' 300°C limit and the bed range under their 100°C limit. The speed rating is the one to watch: the printers list 600 and 700mm/s, double or more what Sovol rates its own PLA for. Set the slicer to the spool's rating, or choose a line whose maker publishes a higher speed figure.
Large prints on the SV08 use more filament each, so the cost per kilogram matters more. The price per kg page explains how pla.deals divides each listing's price by its total net filament weight, and the 10kg PLA page gathers the biggest packs. Per-printer spool checks are on the SV08 filament list and the SV06 Ace filament list.
Frequently asked questions
Is the SV08 enclosed?
Sovol sells enclosures for it as add-ons, including open and glass versions, and does not describe the base frame as enclosed.
Does the SV06 Ace have a camera?
Yes. Sovol says the SV06 Ace is equipped with a camera for monitoring, and it connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Can Sovol printers print carbon fiber filament?
The SV08 lists PETG-CF among its materials, and Sovol offers hardened steel nozzle kits for both printers. Fit the hardened nozzle before running any carbon-filled spool.
How fast can I print Sovol PLA?
Sovol rates its own PLA to 300mm/s, well under the printers' listed maximums, so use that figure as the cap in your slicer profile.
